| Maui (Population 117,644, Area 727 sq. miles) Also known as the "Valley Isle" in addition to being a main tourist destination in Hawaii is also a producer of sugar, pineapple, cattle, and horses. Haleakala is the tallest peak on Maui at 10,023 feet and has the largest dormant volcanic crater in the world. The old whaling village of Lahaina was Hawaii's capital before 1845. Maui has some of the most exquisite resorts in Hawaii including the Kaanapali and Wailea resort areas and golf courses. The small town of Hana and the majestic Iao Valley also draw many visitors to Maui. |
