Big Beach, also known as "Oneloa Beach" and or Makena Beach is 1.5 miles long and more than 100 feet wide. Makena is a Hawaiian place name, it is located on the southwestern side of Maui and originates from the Hawaiian work " mak'ke" meaning many gathered.
